Welcome to The Star Inn
The Star Inn is an old village pub situated in the High Street opposite what was the old market place. The pub now has a new tenant, Liz Haines who also owns and runs the ever popular real ale pub The White Hart Inn Margaretting-Tye.The Star is lovely old pub with oodles of history and ghostly tales from years gone by but more recently it has undergone a major refurbishment. Retaining a mixture of old beams and eclectic furniture it has stepped firmly and yet effortlessly into more contemporary times. The vast fireplace with an enormous log burner and chimney is still very much the centre piece (and always alight on cold days, ask anyone and they will have a story to tell about the fire at The Star !!!). You will always receive a warm welcome with a great atmosphere.
There is another little gem at the rear of the pub with a beautiful beer garden, lots of lavender and leafy shrubs make it a delightful place to soak up sunny days.
There is a very small car park at the rear but it's probably easier to look for a space in the car park behind market place opposite, which is free all day.
Although there is no market there are numerous swanky shops from antiques to very up to the minute boutiques packed full of fabulous ladies fashions…. The Star is a perfect way to start or end a shopping trip with a tasty lunch or early supper. We have a superb young chef Karen Steele who has introduced some great new menus to suit all. We also have an exciting wine list and a range of real ales & cider to help it slip down.
The pub was always famous for its amazing music nights where musicians came from far and wide to play together whilst enjoying a beer or two. Liz has brought this back to The Star with monthly music nights on the third Tuesday of every month hosted by Richard Dobney and friends and some Saturdays with George & Lol.
